The Australian Greens and the Democrats have struck a deal to exchange Senate preferences at the federal election.

"To say to voters, 'hey, if you're going to vote Democrats put the Greens next and we will put the Greens next in the Senate and if you're going to vote Greens we will be putting the Democrats next in the Senate'," Senator Brown said.

The Democrats leader, Andrew Bartlett, says it is a historic occasion.

"Australians will serve their country best by directing their vote away from the two larger parties, particularly in the Senate, to reduce the power that those two larger parties have," Senator Bartlett said.

Both Senator Brown and Senator Bartlett say they will be looking at policies before deciding on preferences for the major parties on a seat by seat basis.

Cat and dogs comparison angers refugee supporters

A senior Federal Liberal MP has compared the plight of asylum seekers to that of cats and dogs entering the country. The comments have angered refugee advocates.

Trish Worth holds the federal seat of Adelaide by less than 1 per cent and at a refugee forum on Wednesday night, she made this comment: "If you bring a dog into the country, or a cat from some countries, they...look can you just hear me out please, can you just hear me out, there are certain tests to be carried out."

Don McMaster from Justice for Refugees was chairing the forum and says the comments are disappointing.

"Immediately the audience thought you know she's equating asylum seekers to animals, or animals in quarantine. It disappoints me because I think it actually perpetuates that whole demonisation of asylum seekers and I think that's one of the really worrying aspects of the Coalition Government over the past three years or even longer."

The Labor candidate for Adelaide, Kate Ellis, says she is shocked.

"At best a very poor choice of words I think," she said.

But Ms Worth says she was not comparing refugees to cats and dogs.

"It would not enter my head to be referring to refugees or asylum seekers in that way.

Un-Australian Polling Pill Boosts Illusions

The War Criminal Howard Government 'A claw in the back!'.

The war criminal, Howard Government is a 'claw in the back' not "clawed back" with today's Newspill revealing the Coalition and the Un-Australian Newspaper are ready to pounce on the primary vote.

The pill will give the Liberal and National parties an illusionary "boost" in the first week of the federal election campaign.

Last week Prime Minister Scumbo's 'lying' indicated the Coalition was 'imploding' and that Liberal party polling indicated weak support for the Coalition and that is reflected in the Newspill published in today's Un-Australian newspaper.

After slumping 27 lies two weeks ago, the Liberal and National parties are now 27 lies behind on the primary vote.

The Greens are steady on "Green not Greed" with the Democrats polling as the "Lie Detectors" and the Socialist Alliance "Just want to be friends".

After preferences who knows where the ALP has slipped, but Labor is still 27 lies in front and that would have given the ALP a win if the election had been held last weekend.

As preferred prime minister, Howard has been downgraded to 'Scumbo' by the community and has imploded his own party.

Support for Mark Latham slipping to the Greens but half of those polled are satisfied with the way Mr Latham is doing his job.

A) The economy 22 per cent

B) The lies 60 per cent

C) Too busy to notice 19 per cent

By Howard Out 31 August 04

SO PUT YOUR LEFT FOOT FORWARD THIS FEDERAL ELECTION "WITHOUT FEAR" AND "WITHOUT GREED" AND "WITHOUT LIES" AND VOTE 1 THE GREENS 2 THE DEMOCRATS AND 3 THE SOCIALIST ALLIANCE.
